Our Story

The clubs focus and aim is to promote and encourage members of our Punjabi society and upcoming generations to take part and participate in Sports and Cultural activities.

Saanjh Sports & Cultural Club Incorporated was established in 2013

Saanjh Sports & Cultural Club Incorporated represents its members as “Saanjh Team” because everyone in this Club works as a team, there is no “you” or “I”. It reflects the meaning of Saanjh, working together and bringing one another together in peace and harmony.

Saanjh Committee Team consists of males and females of different ages. The team members bring invaluable knowledge and experience in different areas such as managing events, marketing, cultural knowledge, and sports enthusiasm.

Saanjh Team will look after the participant’s welfare by providing suitable resources and a platform that fosters a healthier constructive environment.

The club aims to hold a sport and cultural cup annually, while also looking at ways to expand the number of sports being played and create an awareness of particular sports within the females in our community, in order to give our community members and upcoming generations a strong platform and choices of multiple sports they could participate in.

Saanjh Sports & Cultural Club was the first club in New Zealand to begin an annual Bhangra & Gidha Competition which has to date shown how successful it has become with the enormous response given by spectators.

We are also very proud that we are the first Punjabi Club to begin a Punjabi girls netball club and host games involving females and hosting the first ladies free entry event at Vodafone Event Centre. It is great to see the impact our Club has made as other societies within our Community have started doing similar events.

The Saanjh Team will be strongly committed to promoting Cultural events in order to keep our upcoming generations attached to our Punjabi culture. “Preserving our heritage” is the easiest way to explain our mission.
